DRY RIVER FALLS IN PORTLAND JAMAICA

Jamaican Travel Bloggers

So Travel Buddy JA and On The Edge Tours JA came together as two women in the travel industry and brought together four Jamaican Travel Bloggers on an adventure that we cannot stop talking about to this day.

Jamaican Travel Bloggers

We all met up at 6:00 am, Travel Buddy JA did the COVID19 Protocols before we all boarded and headed out to find Comfort Castle in Portland Jamaica. We also received our @Travelboxja with treats and nicenesses for the road. As much as we are travel bloggers it was definitely not an easy find.

Now, of course, it being so early apart from being travel bloggers we are also foodies so we had to make a stop in Friendship Gap for some porridge. To my surprise though at 7 am in the morning, soup ready! Red Pead and Pumpkin! So anybody knowing me I ditched the porridge and went with soup….2 soups and can I tell you both were amazing and well hot, I mean all half hour and it still steaming! 🤭

As our journey continued to find dry river falls in Portland Jamaica, of course as travel bloggers we had to make a few photo op stops such as the Portland and St.Mary border sign. As well as in a community close to comfort castle there was a bridge overlooking a wonderful river so we had to…After all the picture taking, food eating, and bad roads we finally made it to comfort castle.

Upon reaching the location we were greeted by Derise and Damion with some nice refreshing coconut water. We all geared up and then headed out for the hike to Dry River Falls. The hike usually takes about 20 minutes but because it was us…lol it took a little longer. Many things happened along the way, we saw a few different animals so much so we realize that some of us aren’t so good with them lol.

Rain had also fell so the place was wet and muddy hence making it quite slippery in some areas. For me, the best part was when we got to the river area where we had to go through the water to get across and climb ladders when necessary for me that was a really great adventure and then to finally make it to Dry River Falls was everything to see that breathtaking COLDDD waterfall with the sunshine gleaming behind it.

Upon arriving of course there were more photo ops especially now that we had Dry River Falls in Portland Jamaica in full view. The river is breathtaking as it rushes above the stones and falls alongside the rocks. We went on the raft to the waterfall then persons who wanted to swim around for a bit while Damion got the fire going. After a day of fun, we got our things together and got ready for the trek back to our meeting grounds. When we got there we just chilled a bit then we were back on our way home. All in all, it was a great day and a great adventure.

Where is Dry River Falls located?

Dry River Falls is located in the parish of Portland, Jamaica, a parish on the northeastern coast of Jamaica. This area is known for its beautiful beaches, tropical rainforests, and stunning waterfalls. It is accessible via a hiking trail. The hike is a bit challenging but worth it for the stunning views and the refreshing dip in the cool waters of the falls.

Along the way, you’ll be surrounded by lush vegetation and tropical flora and fauna. The trek to Dry River Falls is not for the faint of heart. You’ll need to be in good physical shape to make the journey. You might even spot some lizards. The trail is well-maintained but can be slippery in some places, so make sure to wear appropriate hiking gear and take precautions. It makes for a perfect spot for photography or just relaxing and taking in the natural beauty. You can hear the roar of the water as it falls, creating a peaceful and calming atmosphere.

I would do it again, as I plan to go back and explore the Millbank area soon.

TRAVEL BUDDY JA – PORTLAND WATERFALLS

Travel Buddy JA

If you are looking for a Jamaican adventure look no further, Travel Buddy JA is there for you. Spearheaded by the wonderful Njari Ifenyah who created her services specifically for females. Den dat sound good, don’t it! As sometimes women want to go places but don’t have the company or don’t feel comfortable going with some people so I commend her for creating this experience.

Now let’s talk about her services, Travel Buddy JA usually offers roughly three open trips each month to various places across the island, and from my experience on our recent trip I know I will be joining in on many of those because I don’t have many travel buddies except my daughter lol. She also does trips that are curated to your needs so you can contact her about those too! I think it would be a great idea to plan like girl trips and birthday trips etc with her. Her customer service from start to end was commendable.

You can see and learn from talking to her that she is always up for a Jamaican adventure. You can find her on Instagram @TravelBuddyJa

Now of course Denise and Damion deserve an award too because they made sure that we enjoyed the experience to the max. The idea of a riverside cookout is always good. They went above and beyond to make sure that everyone was enjoying themselves, that everyone was safe, and even if you can’t swim, like myself, life vests are available so no need to fear. You can find them on Instagram

@OntheEdgeTours_Ja They offer excursions to Dry River Falls in Portland Jamaica as well as other experiences in the area of Comfort Castle and Millbank Portland.
