This was a hugeeee problem for me, wanting to work from home not just that but legit online jobs, online jobs that pay well, which is why I had decided to write this blog post as it was a challenge. As a Jamaican, it was really difficult to find an online job that pays a decent amount.
So here are a few ways and a few sites in which you can earn from home, some may be worldwide and some may be specific. Some are simple side jobs while others you can take on a full-time or part-time. The great thing about this listing is that most if not all of these are all legit online jobs for Jamaicans as well.
The list will be updated as I learn about others. Feel free to double-check them to see if they are the right fit for you. I will also create a listing of possible job opportunities in each area so subscribe at the bottom of the homepage and become a member to keep up to date and to be eligible for prizes and surprises!
WORK FROM HOME – LEGIT ONLINE JOBS THAT PAY WELL
1) TUTOR/TEACH ONLINE
Teach English Online: I currently help persons who are interested in teaching English Online achieve that with various companies that accept persons outside of the US and Canada as well as within these countries that pay a decent rate. You have to become qualified to do this process, however, it is not so hard as I do recruitment for a few of these companies. Feel free to contact me with details through my contact me page if you are in Jamaica or any other country outside of the USA or Canada. Here are some companies you can teach with, I will expand that list though. Here is a list of companies that hire Tutors in general.
2) FREELANCE
Make use of your skills on these freelance websites whether it is:
Upwork – This I have personally used and earned from it. The only thing is it works off bids so it can be a bit difficult sometimes to get these jobs. It is, however, a good thing to make a little extra. (tested)
Freelancer – (You can also earn for referring others) Similar to Upwork in the sense that you have to bid. It, however, does work too if you win the bid you do get paid for the work you complete. If you have great skills like designing or skills that are not as common as the average skills your results will be way better.
Fiverr – Fiverr is a little different in the sense that here you sell your services/gigs and you get paid as you complete them.
Clickworker – Clickworker is another option for freelancing. One thing to note though is that Clickworker mostly offers microtasks and they sometimes take a little time to pay. They are however a legit business that works.

3) FREELANCE WRITING
There are many companies that you can do freelance writing for, in order to work from home, most however prefer to see some of your writing material or proof of your writing abilities. These listed are ones you can do from anywhere in the world. You can see others in this more detailed list of freelance writing jobs.

4) TRANSCRIPTION
Transcription services are really just when you are able to convert speech into text. It can be complex as some persons may want it in detail while others prefer it shorthand. Transcription jobs are available online at good rates, not all are open to countries outside of the US and Canada so there has to be a more detailed look. There are entry-level transcription jobs along with the ones that require experience. It is a good idea to find a short transcription course online first for better chances to work from home. 5) TRANSLATION
Now of course for a job like this it is required that you know a second language. As this requires you to change written material from one language to another. You can earn on average $20 per hour. Based on your experience, of course, the possibility for more exists. Here is a list of companies that hire translators.(Coming soon)
6) PROOFREADING
This just means going through some text to make the necessary corrections related to the text whether it is grammar, language, etc. On average with some experience, the possibility exists for a salary of roughly about $15 per hour. Here is a listing of possible proofreading jobs. (List coming soon)
7) BOOKKEEPING
This is a person who is able to keep the financial records of a company. The accounting aspects. Here are some possible bookkeeping jobs if you want to work from home. Or we can talk more about you starting your own. (coming soon)
8) BLOGGING
Have you ever thought about starting a blog? It is not such a bad idea, especially if you love writing it is great. There are many ways you can monetize a blog and earn from it. Blogging can be a full-time thing or a part-time thing, it depends on how you look at it. If you really are looking to build something that grows though it will definitely take focus. In starting this blog I had NO IDEA what I was doing, but I do know what I want from it and I am still working on that.
9) SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING
Social media marketing is also a great way to earn additional income. Whether you want to start your own business with it or work for other companies. With the direction that things are going online is the best place to be right now. There are so many opportunities now to work from home in this area. There is a social media manager and a social media marketer they do have a bit of a difference.
10) VIRTUAL ASSISTANT
Virtual Assistants are also in high demand and one of the best opportunities for you to work from home. A virtual assistant really focuses on giving administrative services. It can be done freelancing or through other companies. A freelancer is usually referred to as an independent contractor. 11) PHOTOGRAPHY
Photography is something that is becoming more popular especially as a work-from-home opportunity. The beauty about this is the possible online opportunities to sell photos do not require you to be an expert in some cases, however of course quality is key. Feel free to check out this detailed list of companies you can possibly sell photos to in order to earn a little extra. The amount you can many really varies.
12) SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION (SEO)
There are companies that require freelance Search Engine Optimization (SEO) experts to work from home. A search engine optimization expert really focuses on helping companies increasing the number of visitors to a website as well as having it placed high in searches when looking on search engines. 13) GRAPHIC DESIGN
Graphic Design is another amazing way to earn additional income. This also is something you can do while working with a company or freelancing. Of course for anything you are freelancing, it will take a little time to build up, but once you focus and work at it it is amazing. I will post some possible opportunities soon. (more coming soon)
14) VIDEO EDITING
If you are good at this then you can definitely apply for companies that require it, or again freelance. Many people are doing videos now with high social media activity, companies need editors. Consider making this another way to earn. (more coming soon)
15) VOICEOVER ARTIST
Do you have an amazing voice? Whether singing voice or speaking voice…Well this might be another thing you can consider. This may not bring in a lot this is more to just make a little extra on the side. Check out these companies that hire voiceover artists.
16) EVENT PLANNING
This is another way to earn, you can start your own event-planning business if you love and enjoy such activities. Some people are gifted with this talent, it is something you can do broad-scale or just small with friends and family. This is not fully a work-from-home situation but it is great for you to do on your own.
17) TRAVEL AGENT
There are many companies that hire travel agents as well as you also have freelance travel agents. I will post a listing of some companies that hire for this position where you can work from home. (coming soon)
18) DIRECT SELLING
Now this one is based on individuals as not everyone is a fan of things like these, they can work, they do however take some level of work as well to reap the results you are looking for. That is another option to consider. (coming soon)
19) SURVEY
There are many companies that will pay people to do a survey. I personally wouldn’t suggest you sign up for everyone as some of them are the same. Also, not all surveys are open to every country so you have to check on that. I will provide a listing. (coming soon)
20) CALL CENTER
Instead of going into the call center every day and being tired of your coworkers, or annoyed, why not work for a call center from home? That is an option, just ensure you have the correct tools and the right environment. Now more so because of the pandemic, there are companies that will allow you to work from home doing the same call center job.
21) DATA ENTRY
Data Entry jobs are also another good way to earn some additional income. You do have to be careful with some of these as there are also scams out there so it is good to do proper additional research.
22) AUDIOBOOK READER
Do you speak well and have a great voice and reading pace, then by all means check online, there are jobs to read audiobooks for different companies. This might be one of the best ways to work from home, it just requires reading. How fun is that! (I will post a list soon)
