CANE RIVER FALLS IN JAMAICA

Don’t forget to check out My Jamaican Bucket List on Amazon and start your Jamaican Adventure!

Cane River Falls Location

The location can be a bit tricky to find if you don’t know much about Jamaican roads. However, it is located at 9 Miles Bull Bay which is in the parish of St. Andrew.

GETTING TO THE FALLS

Getting to the falls was something I anticipated for a while, I even second-guessed going there because of all the videos and the statements about the number of steps. I believe in total it was maybe 100+ flights of stairs. My only recommendation is when you get there just make sure you have everything before you take the stairs and head down because you don’t want to be making 2/3/4 trips up and down so many steps unless you are trying to get your steps in lol.

After making it down the steps the wonderful cascading waterfall can be found to the right, the beauty about this river is that you have the waterfall area that you can enjoy but apart from that if you go left you can go along the rocks and the river to find other cool spots to stop and hang out in.

Cane River Falls Entrance Fee

When I visited Cane River Falls in April 2023 the cost was $500 per adult and $300 for children under 12 years old. I believe that the cane river falls entrance fee is quite reasonable, yes it did increase over the past couple of years but it’s an acceptable raise, especially over the years and the pandemic, etc.

Is it safe?

My recommendation would be to go with someone or a small group, however, I must say that when I visited there I didn’t feel unsafe in any way, however because of how it is and the environment it is best to have company. When I visited there on a Tuesday afternoon there were probably 10-12 people on spot all just doing their own thing and having fun. As you know I prefer when places are less crowded so I don’t usually do weekends at places like this.

CANE RIVER FALLS WATERFALLS

Be prepared, I will do a video to show more so look out for that but the waterfall was nice and cool…I must say because it is coming from a fairly high point it hits hard…lol but not in a bad way, more of a therapeutic way. I took on this adventure with Di Director From Country, who possibly got way better shots lol.

I am 6ft tall and I believe I was standing on a little rock in the photo but I would say the water was maybe around 5ft or so, I dunno lol. They used some stuffed bags to keep some of the water in, as you climb out…and yes I said climb, it is just shallow and runs along wit other littler areas being deeper.

What was interesting though for me were some areas that were a bit untraversed, I wouldn’t say hidden but it was just a little messy and had like spiderwebs and stuff. Nothing outrageously dirty or anything like that, I think it’s just because of how the water runs and when it dries and then runs again.

THINGS TO DO TO MAKE THE EXPERIENCE EVEN MORE EXCITING

Maybe it is just the day that I visited but you can comment and let me know but they weren’t very strict on what we could or couldn’t do. So to make the experience more fun here are some suggestions:

  • Explore as much of the area as you can, so start from the falls and just follow where the river runs until you feel like stopping.
  • Bring food and take a break and eat mindfully.
  • If you are with a group of friends, take some board games, play some riverside bingo.
.

I do hope this post was helpful as I covered Cane River Falls entrance fee, location and even things to do there.
