20 Amazing ways to make money with photography online, does that sound odd? Feel free to do your review and additional research on these companies as I am not a professional photographer, these were posted based on research. Just to show possible opportunities that exist. There are many ways to make money with photography. Also please comment on your experience, if you have any with the sites named. 1) YOUR OWN WEBSITEMAKE MONEY FROM PHOTO

Of course, nothing beats you creating your own website. A great platform to use especially as a simple startup is Wix but of course, WordPress is also an incredible platform. By far maybe one of the best ways to make money with photography.

2)FREEDIGITALPHOTOS.NET

Freedigitalphotos.net is a good way to make a little extra on the side. Just click here to go to the registration page. Please read through the requirements for being a contributor, some of them are:

REQUIREMENTS‣ Sample pics, good quality of course. (Approximately 8)

‣ Pictures should be jpg or jpeg files.

‣ An official photo ID


WHAT TO EXPECT

For your sales, you can keep up to 70% of the income. They usually pay through PayPal, so it is good to have an account there.


‣You don’t choose the selling price for all the photos, you do however get to chooses the selling price for your high-resolution pictures.

3) 500PX


500PX is another way you can sell your images online. It can be seen as a social network for photographers. You get a 14 day Pro Trial though which is good for you to test and see if it meets what you want, after that you can use free or the Pro and adobe package which of course just adds more features. All this information is on the site for you to make money with photography. Before starting, ensure you read the part about being a contributor so you know the requirements in detail. REQUIREMENTS

‣ Good quality photos of course.


‣ JPEG files are required.


‣ There are rules about copyright, trademark, and watermarks, which you can read more about here.

WHAT TO EXPECT

‣ With 500px once your photographs have been approved, you have the chance to earn up to 60% royalties, they have to however be exclusively licensed with 500PX.


‣ 500PX is also rated on Glassdoor as a business at 4.1/5 so I believe it should work fine.

4) ADOBE STOCK CONTRIBUTOR

To start selling images and to make money with photography on Adobe Stock Contributor is not very technical. All you have to do is go to the website and in the top right corner, you will see the option to sell photos. You create an account and start uploading. Of course, before uploading, make sure you read the submission guidelines. You can sell photographs, videos, vectors, and illustrations. They love photos of models, cultural diversity, food, technology, etc. Just like most they do have their requirements.


REQUIREMENTS

‣ You need to be 18 years or older.


‣ You should be the Sole Owner of anything you upload to sell.


‣ If you have photos of recognizable persons or private property there should be an attached signed release.

WHAT TO EXPECT

‣ Adobe Stock Contributor pays out about 33% commission for photos and vectors while for videos it may be a bit more depending on the price of the image.


‣ Once you have over $25 in royalties you can request your payout using Skrill or Paypal.

5) CANSTOCKPHOTO

CANSTOCKPHOTO is another way to earn a little extra and make money with photography. Scroll to the bottom of the page where you will see the Sell Photos option. To start selling photos you just need to create an account, fill out an application form, which includes the submission of about 3 photos. Once approved you can start uploading and earning. You can also earn through referral. They also have a payout schedule online to help you have an idea of the buying and selling costs.


REQUIREMENTS

‣ Great quality photos, 3 photos of your sample work. (Make them great)


‣ There are file type restrictions that you will see when you try to apply in more detail.


‣ You can apply here, they want to know your equipment, your experience level, and if you work along with other stock agencies, etc.


WHAT TO EXPECT

‣Once accepted you can submit any amount of files you want to.


‣ All files added are for commercial use.


‣ You can request payments when you have gotten to at least $50USD by PayPal but $100USD for Cheque or Skrill.


‣ You have full copyright and control over your content.

6) iSTOCK/GETTY IMAGES

For this one, you have to apply using the app, which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or the Apple Store. You also have to submit a few pieces of your work whether it is a video, illustrations, or photos. I never went through the entire process for this as I didn’t have any photos to add but you have to submit these pictures before starting. They look for authentic photographs and those that show closeness so that you can make money with photography. iStock/Getty Images is one of the more popular sites so it is worth a look at.


REQUIREMENTS

‣ Must be 18 years or older to apply.


‣ You have to apply through the app by submitting a few good photos, then once approved you can upload more.


WHAT TO EXPECT

‣ Though you apply by mobile app, once accepted you can upload using a desktop or your mobile.


‣ They provide information on what customers may be looking for to help you know the kind of content you should upload. For more information on how they work click here.


‣ They payout 15% as the base royalty rate for photo contributors, 20% for videos and 20% for illustrations. If however, you are an exclusive contributor then you can earn a lot more.


‣It is rated a 3.3/5 on Glassdoor.

7) ALAMY

At the top, there is an option to sell images. All you have to do is fill out a small application form with some information about you. It is a quick process with Alamy.


REQUIREMENTS

‣ Ensure great quality photos.


‣ Accepts only JPEG format photos.

WHAT TO EXPECT

‣You make 50% on each sale.


‣ They also have a non-exclusive and exclusive contract for you to choose from.


‣ Payments are made through PayPal, Skrill or bank transfer.

‣ They offer additional revenue options if you look through the guidelines page you will see the details.


‣ They also help you to understand what customers’ needs are or what is trending.

8) SNAPPED4U

SNAPPED4U is not so bad. I have never tried this one but the registration process is pretty straightforward. Their main focus is Event and Portrait shoots. Feel free to review them before making that payment so you can start to make money with photography.

‣ There is a one time non-refundable $10 registration fee.


‣ The maximum price you can set for a photo though is $20.


‣ Payment is made through PayPal.

9) PHOTOSHELTER

Another good site to help you create your own website for showcasing your work. You also do have the option of selling your photos as well through PhotoShelter. Similar to some of the other sites it does come at a small fee. The good thing is that you have the opportunity to try this platform as they have a 14-day free trial. REQUIREMENTS

‣ There is a monthly fee after the 14-day trial.


WHAT TO EXPECT

‣ You also set your pricing.


‣ It is easy to use.


‣ You are charged a transaction fee on what you sell.


‣ You will retain your copyright.

10) 123RF

Once on the website, you have to scroll down to the bottom where you will see the contributor option. This site gives you access to over 5 million potential buyers. All you need to do is register, upload and start to make money with photography.

‣ They usually pay through Paypal, Skrill, and Payoneer. Payout is usually made on the 15th of each month but depending on your payout threshold it could be a little later.

11) TWENTY20

All you have to do is choose the option that says ‘I want to sell photos, you then select three of your best pieces of work and that is it. It’s all finer details from there. This option may not be the best as based on some reviews. The issue more seems to have to do with customer service more than anything else. WHAT TO EXPECT

‣ As I stated earlier the reviews are not the best for this one.


‣ They do something called subscriber share, which you can check out how that works.


‣ You can sell the same photo more than once.

12) SHUTTERSTOCK

From their website, if you scroll to the bottom on your left you should see sell content. It is a quick simple sign up process and you are on your way. Or you can just click here and it brings you straight to the contributor sign up page. You can also refer persons to your portfolio to make extra money if you wish.


REQUIREMENTS

‣ Must be 18 years or older.


‣ Be able to verify your e-mail information and provide basic personal information.

‣ There is an option to pay more to have access to more.


‣ You can only have one account unless permitted otherwise from Shutterstock.


‣ How much you get paid is also detailed here as there are different levels.

13) SMUGMUG

This can also be used to sell your images but like some others, it requires a small payment to start. You do however have a trial period where you can try and see if this is for you. You can also earn additionally from SmugMug by referring it to a friend who can possibly earn discounts. They also have job openings some of which are remote while some are in office.


REQUIREMENTS


‣ Should be over 18 years old.


‣ You have to fill out taxpayer forms.


WHAT TO EXPECT

‣ With SmugMug, you keep up to 85% of your profits after SmugMug makes its deductions.


‣ You can get paid through PayPal or a US Bank Account.

14) TOUR PHOTOS

As you scroll down you will see the option to sell. Their sign up process is a simple form requesting to sell photos then once approved, you can begin. TourPhotos is mostly used in the tourism industry.

15) FOAP

At the top of the page where you see for creators, there is a drop-down menu, look for the option that says sell your content. There is an app available on google play as well as the Apple Store. Foap usually takes photographs and videos. Their profits are 50/50. For more, you can look in the missions section and see what brands may be looking for.


REQUIREMENTS

16) EYEEM

With this it is simple, you just have to create a photographers’ account and start uploading. They also have jobs available but again it is for select countries. So to see if you can start making money with photography check out all the available jobs.

17) STOCKSY

You can scroll down the page to the part that says contribute to STOCKSY. There is a quick application form to fill out as well as the would love a portfolio of your work as well. So ensure you have these things before starting to make money with photography.

18) FINE ART AMERICA

As the name states, it’s fine art at the top right you will see the option to sell. You can use Fine Art America to create an online portfolio. The application process is also simple you just fill out a short form, start uploading and start earning. They are one of the largest online art sites.

19) CRESTOCK

Crestock is not accepting images right now. You can, however, check out the information for contributors to see what they require and when they start again you can apply and start to make money with photography.


REQUIREMENTS

‣ Only JPEG images are accepted.

20)DREAMSTIME

At the bottom of the page, there is a part that says community, there you will see the option of selling your images, They do require more details here too. They have jobs available but in select countries. Please ensure you look through their requirements to see fully how to make money with photography.

‣ Must be your personal work and you own the copyright.


‣ Don’t upload content that is seen as offensive.
