THINGS TO DO IN PORTLAND JAMAICA

What is Portland known for?
Portland, Jamaica is known for its stunning natural beauty and laid-back vibe. It’s a slice of paradise that’s often overlooked by tourists in favor of more popular destinations, but that just means you’ll have more pristine beaches and lush rainforests to yourself! This is the perfect spot for adventurous travelers who love to explore untouched beaches, lush rainforests, and hidden waterfalls. The town is famous for the annual Portland Jerk Festival, which celebrates the island’s mouthwatering jerk dishes. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing getaway or an action-packed adventure, Portland has something for everyone!

If you are curious about the weather in Portland Jamaica? Well, it’s a tropical paradise which means it’s warm and sunny most of the year. With temperatures hovering around 80 degrees Fahrenheit, you’ll definitely want to pack your swimsuit and sunscreen. During the rainy season, which typically runs from June to October, you might experience some brief afternoon showers, but they’re usually followed by clear skies and stunning sunsets.
Where is Portland Jamaica and How to Get to there
Portland, Jamaica is located on the northeastern coast of the island. If you’re looking to get off the beaten path and experience the real Jamaica, Portland is the place to be. Getting to Portland is not too hard as you can get direct transportation there whether you choose to drive, take a taxi or the bus you can get there. To get to some of the off-beaten paths you may need to contact specific tours or tour guides.
ATTRACTIONS IN PORTLAND JAMAICA/THINGS TO DO IN PORTLAND JAMAICA
- Visit Reach Falls and cool down. ✔✔✔
Reach Falls is a lovely place to just really cool down and relax while having fun with friends and family. The entrance fee is around $ 10 USD for adults and $5 for kids.

2. Find your way to Nanny Falls
This is quite a little hike, so you want to maybe go with a few friends and find a travel guide to help you along the way.
3. Get a guide and find Nonsuch Falls
Another tricky one to find. Get you a guide and get hiking.
4. Go by Errol Flynn Marina and explore a bit if you can.
Explore the Errol Flynn Marina and Boatyard which is usually open from 9am – 11pm daily. You can even see Navy Island from there, usually, you gound get a ferry and go get a better view however I do not know if that still happens today. I’ll check into it some more.
5. Visit Holywell Park which is actually on the border of St. Andrew and Portland.
Holywell Park is the perfect place to get some amazing cool breeze as well as chill with friends in cabins, picnics, birdwatching, camping out, go hiking, and much more.
6. Hike the Blue Mountain if you feel fit and ready lol. (I’m not there yet)
7. Visit the Charles Town Maroon Community.
They are located close to Buff Bay, Portland Jamaica.
8. Go rafting on the Rio Grande and get lunch from Ms. Belina✔✔✔
9. Go to Machioneal and explore Turtle Bay Cove and other surrounding areas.
10. Go to Somerset Falls then go relax and have some food by Likkle Portie across the road and even take a quick raft. ✔✔✔
Somerset Falls is another great place to cool down, unwind and have fun and Likkle Portie food nice bad!
11. Visit Moore Town which is a Maroon settlement located in Portland Jamaica.
12. Find out all things diving with Lady G’Diver and even get Diving Certifications.
13. Go chill, vibe, stay and eat at BushBar by Geejam Studios.

Boston Jerk is usually really good. Portland in itself is well known for its Jerk, so usually there is a Jerk Festival that is held in the parish.
15. Explore the Folly Ruins and Mansion
I know, I know this may not be interesting to some people but for some it’s great, especially learning and understanding the history behind it.
16. See where the river meets the sea at Frenchman’s Cove and even stay there too for a night or two and enjoy waking up to the ocean! ✔✔✔
17. Visit Boston Bay Beach. Winnifred Beach, San San Beach and Long Bay Beach.
Go for a nice swim at any of these beaches or just soak in the sun.
18. Visit Fort George.
You can find this ont he Titchfield Peninsula. Again this is for the history buffs.
19. Go take a swim at the freezing cold Fish Dunn Falls.✔✔✔
Can’t say I didn’t warn you it is realllly colddd…but like a nice freezing cold lol.
20. Hike to Dry River Falls and Enjoy!
Take some water, and snacks hit the rocks and paths and get to hiking.
21. Visit the Blue Lagoon also known as Portland Blue Hole.
22. Can you get to Monkey Island? (Pellew Island) Hint – it is close to the Blue Lagoon.
23. Visit Dragon Bay Beach if you can.
24. Go have a look at the Portland Parish Church and learn about its history.
25. Find a great place to stay like Geejam, Trident Hotel, The Sea Cliff Hotel Resort and Spa, Kanopi House amongst many others.
