These are seen as secret treasures, offering ingenious solutions to some of our everyday small challenges and making our lives more efficient and enjoyable. This post is just for fun guys so don’t take them too seriously but enjoy. While some life hacks are well-known, there’s a world of lesser-known gems that are just waiting to be uncovered. Also note these are life hacks for adults, life hacks for teens, life hacks for everyone!
1. Banana Peel Shoe Polish Hack
Did you know that banana peels can be used to shine your shoes? All you have to do is rub the inside of a banana peel on your leather shoes, then buff with a cloth. Witness the natural sheen that emerges, giving your shoes a brand-new look. It is said that the Potassium and other natural oils found in the banana peel are a great natural shoe polish, as regular polish does include potassium. Remember though its best to remove any excess dirt and grime before using the banana peel.
2. Lip Balm for Stubborn Zippers
If you have a stuck zipper you just need to apply a small amount of clear lip balm along the teeth of the zipper. The lubrication helps the zipper glide smoothly, saving you from the frustration of stuck clothing. I wouldn’t suggest that you use the lip balm after that though lol. A pretty common life hack that sometimes gets forgotten but makes life a lot easier.
3. Sponge Ice Pack Trick
You can turn a wet sponge into a drip-free ice pack by placing it in a resealable plastic bag and freezing it, have you ever tried this before? The frozen sponge allows for the area to be mess-free as it melts, making it an ideal tool to use for packed lunches or cooling small spaces.
4. Rubber Band Jar Opener
This one I heard about recently. Next time you struggle to open a stubborn jar try wrapping a thick rubber band around the lid of it then try opening it. The added grip that the band provides creates extra leverage and that makes it a bit easier to twist off the lid that was tightly sealed.
5. Binder or Bread Clip Cable Organizer
You can try saving some of these as you continue to buy bread. You can repurpose the plastic bread clips as cable organizers by labeling them and just clipping then onto the necessary cords. Less tangled cables and a more organized workspace, on a budget. Try it, this is one of the great life hacks for teens since it is cost efficient. You could also try attaching binder clips to the edge of your desk and thread your cables through them. This simple hack keeps your cables organized, prevents them from falling, and maintains a tidy workspace.
6. Tic Tac Spice Storage Solution
If you are on a budget did you know you could reuse empty Tic Tac containers to store and organize those smaller spices. If you can find them that is as it’s not as common as it was in the past but the small size and the flip-top lid makes them the perfect thing to use when seasoning your dishes.
7. Hair Straightener Clothes Iron Hack
This is more for the females out there, but if you have some small wrinkles you need to get out of a shirt, or a dress like in the collar and you are in a rush and it is a busy morning, you can just take your hair straightener and use it to quickly smooth out those small wrinkles if the iron is tucked too far away. Problem solved.
8. Duct Tape Keyboard Cleaner
This I enjoy doing, I dunno why lol. Think I just like seeing it or I’m just weird like that but all you have to do is press a strip of tape, sticky side down of course onto your keyboard to pick up any crumbs or debris left on it, it will be nice and clean afterwards. If you don’t have tape then you can just slide a sticky part of a Post-It Note between your keyboard keys to get the job done.
9. Hair Dryer Shoe Stretching Trick
Put on a pair of thick socks and slip on tight shoes. I know, I know that may be a challenge but get it on in there and once its in, use a hair dryer ot add heat to the areas where the shoe feels a bit tight, this usually helps to stretch the material out a bit making the shoe a bit more comfortable. You should try these life hacks and let me know how they work for you!
10. Vinegar Microwave Cleanser
You can fill a microwave-safe bowl with equal parts water and vinegar. Microwave the mixture for a few minutes until it steams, then wipe down the inside of the interior. The steam tends to loosen all that grime making it cleaner.
11. Plastic Bottle Lid Smartphone Holder
Attach a plastic bottle cap to the wall with adhesive tape. Slip your smartphone into the cap, and voilà – you have an instant hands-free holder for watching videos or making video calls.
12. Toothpaste Headlight Cleaner
In Jamaica they love offering the service of cleaner your headlights in the parking lots, but just in case you didn’t know you can restore your foggy or dull headlights with toothpaste. Yup I said it….toothpaste, all you have to do is apply toothpaste to a cloth and rub it onto the headlight in a circular motion, then wipe away the residue and you will see your clearer, brighter lights.
13. Rubber Glove Pet Hair Picker-Upper
This is for all the pet lovers, if you have a hairy pet that lives indoors then try this, this is on of the top life hacks to get rid of all that loose hair. All you have to do is put on a rubber glove and run your hand over any upholstered surfaces to get all that pet hair. The static electricity that would be created by the glove helps lift and collect all that stubborn hair.
14. Nail Polish Key Identifiers
This is one of the next top life hacks if you are the person who tends to get your keys confused. So you can use different colors of nail polish to tell them apart. All you need to do is paint the tops, sides or just wherever you wish with different shades to quickly identify which key goes with which lock.
15. Coffee Filter Snack Bowl
If you are a coffee lover you can transform a coffee filter into an impromptu snack bowl. Its flat bottom and edges make it perfect for holding popcorn, chips, nuts and other small snacks.
16. Plastic Bag Flip-Flop Protection
I believe that this is one of the top life hacks that we know about but maybe choose not to do because it may seem ’embarrassing’ but who really cares! If you ever get caught in unexpected rain, wrap your shoes in plastic bags and secure them with rubber bands. Your shoes will stay dry, and you can walk confidently through puddles. Although plastic bags are not so easy to find these days as they are an issue for the environment you can find another type of bag as a substitute as long as it doesn’t leave room for water to seep in.
17. Toothpaste Phone Screen Scratch Remover
This works for minor scratches and scrapes but just apply a small amount of toothpaste to a soft cloth and gently rub the screen of the phone or electronic device in a circular motion as you did with the headlights mentioned earlier. Then wipe away the excess toothpaste for a smoother display.
18. Plastic Wrap Refrigerator Liner
One of the best life hacks ever, this one saves you time and energy. You can line the shelves and drawers of your refrigerator with plastic wrap. When spills happen all you have to do is simply peel away the plastic wrap for quick and easy cleanup.
19. Salt Coffee Stain Erase
If you accidentally spill coffee on your clothes at any point, try this. Sprinkle a bit of salt on the stain while it is still wet so it will absorb the liquid, after a few minutes just brush off the salt and rinse the stain under some rather cold water. Works like a charm.
20. Binder Clip Toothpaste Squeezer
When you want to get every single last drop out of your toothpaste just use a binder clip to squeeze out the very last, just slide the clip up the tube as you use the toothpaste to make sure you get the most out of it.
